Tour of Evergreen, Colorado

Introducing Evergreen, CO

Hey y’all - today we’re checking Evergreen, Colorado! One of my favorite mountain towns just a short driving distance of downtown Denver, Evergreen is quaint and beautiful. If you like the mountain vibes, with insane views, this one could be for you.

Let’s get it!

Evergreen Vibes

Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Evergreen is located about 35-40 to downtown Denver and about 50-60 minutes from the Denver International Airport. Considered part of the Denver-Lakewood-Aurora metropolitan area, it's home to about 9,000 residents give or take.

It has good schools - Evergreen High School gets an ‘A’ and most schools from Elementary and up are rated about an A/A- according to niche.com.

With beautiful Evergreen covered mountainsides, a quaint historic downtown, good schools, and the possibility of an epic mountain home, look no further, Evergreen is truly a gem!

Home Price Statistics

Home prices in Evergreen can range dramatically! To start, the median sale price is around $840k. Currently on the market, single family homes are priced as low as $320k. That may not yield the nicest home, but it can be done.

On the other end of the spectrum, the potential for an epic mountain home is real here. With prices upward of $4.5m on the market right now, it’s very possible to go much higher.

Pros + Cons

Pros:

  • Beautiful views - the natural elements surrounding you are epic

  • Very good schools

  • Great for hiking, biking, and outdoor activities

  • Epic homes in quiet, peaceful neighborhoods with larger lots

  • Diverse housing stock

  • Close to slopes - only about an hour and 15 mins to Breckenridge

  • The beautiful wildlife - note the 15 minute mark of the video with about 100 elk

Cons:

  • With that wildlife there could be a downside - hitting a deer or elk would certainly not be fun. But you also have to be cognisant of predators like mountain lions and bears.

  • Mountain lifestyle doesn’t always lend to public utilities. You’ll likely have electricity, but you may need a well for water and septic for sewage.

  • Steep grades are not fun for winter driving. You will need a vehicle that can handle it.

  • Not super convenient to Denver and doesn’t have all your suburban conveniences.

  • Pretty expensive - median home price is about $840k

  • Kinda touristy at times - not that bad, but still
